Travel through the Art & History of the Silk Road: The Art of Dunhuang

Hudson Chen and Qi Chen, best-selling authors, artists and art experts, are sharing the history of the Silk Road. 

They have worked for fifteen years at the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, the most outstanding cultural heritage site on the ancient Silk Road in China. This series of events (five in total) will let us Travel through the Art & History of the Silk Road. Just like in the real world, where mutual understanding and cooperation between ethnic groups is an important foundation for community development, the historical world of ancient China’s Silk Road demonstrates how different ethnic groups and civilizations have worked together to create numerous cultural and artistic achievements.

These 90 minute program events focus on community interaction. Each session will include both a 45 minute presentation with Q&A, and 45 minute relevant group hands-on participation. 

In this first workshop of the series, The Art of Dunhuang, you will get introduced to the history and art of the Silk Road and collaborate with an artist from thousands of years ago on your digital animation!

These programs are recommended for a wide range of people in the community from middle school youth to adults, It is also very suitable for parents, grandparents and children to participate together.

 

Space is limited. Registration is required.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Medford Arts Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
