Join author Ted Reinstein, as he tells the story of the little-known heroes who fought segregation in baseball, but have remained largely unknown. One of the book’s main unsung heroes is West Medford’s very own native son, Mabray “Doc” Kountze. Kountze was a significant writer and contributor to many leading African-American newspapers through the mid-1900s. He was the first African-American journalist to receive an official press pass from the Boston Red Sox.
Ted Reinstein has been a reporter for “Chronicle,” WCVB-TV/Boston’s award-winning—and America’s longest-running, locally-produced—nightly news magazine since 1997.
