1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is an ongoing program that promotes reading to newborns, infants, and toddlers, and encourages families to bond through reading. The goal is to read 1,000 books before starting Kindergarten.
Any child who has not yet started Kindergarten is welcome to join this adaptable, choose-your-own-adventure program! Visit us in the Children’s Room to get started. You’ll receive instructions and your child’s first reading log. When you finish a log, bring it back to the library to receive the next one.
There is no assigned reading list for this challenge, but our Children’s Librarians are always here to help you choose books if you’re not sure where to start.
Getting through 1,000 books may seem like daunting task, but if you and your child read a book together every night, it’s possible to complete the challenge in under 3 years! We can’t wait to celebrate your child’s milestones with you!
