October 26 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Flyer for the Bees and Flowers story time

Join STEM educator Kendall Inglese and author/illustrator Yumi Izuyama for a STEM story time about pollination. The story will be acted out with kamishibai, or “paper theater,” a Japanese form of storytelling involving illustrated cards. The story time will be followed by a craft.

Yumi is second-generation Japanese Brazilian living in Cambridge, MA. She has 20
years of experience writing English language multi-media materials for children and
10 years of experience telling stories to children in preschools and libraries in Cambridge and
surrounding area using Kamishibai that she writes and illustrates.
Yumi has a Master’s degree in linguistics from the University of York, UK, and a BA in Portuguese
and Japanese language and literature from University of São Paulo, Brazil.
She has shown her illustrations to Cambridge Art Association and other organizations involved in
Kamishibai formats around the world.
