Teen Crochet Club is one of our favorite recurring teen library programs. Once a month, teens of all skill levels come together to learn a new stitch, work on one of their ongoing projects, or completely begin their crocheting journey. The club began in 2023 as a result of numerous teens requesting we add some more fiber arts programs to the teen calendar. While this program is always full of incredible energy and joy, we noticed that a barrier existed for some teens who were unable to continue their projects at home without the necessary supplies. This prevented them from honing their skills between sessions and could lead to some understandable frustration.
We are so excited to announce that this year we received a grant from the Library Initiative for Teens and Tweens (LITT) in support of our teen crochet club! The club will still be meeting monthly on the 3rd Tuesday evening of the month, but thanks to this grant we’ll have additional supplies available for teens to take home and continue working between library sessions. We’ll also be creating kits for teens to bring home after meetings so they can focus on learning specific stitches and projects. The grant covers these additional supplies for take home kits and provides a stipend for our amazing teen leader who will be working extra hard with us on creating video tutorials.
Registration is required for our crochet club meetings. Teens in middle school and high school can sign up through the library’s event calendar.
