The Career collection is located between the Periodicals are and the Reference Department. The circulating Career collection contains many resources for job seekers. Additional business and career resources are available in print and online in the reference Department.

Genealogy and Local History
The Reference Department maintains collections of materials related to genealogy, local Massachusetts and New England history, Medford history, and works by Medford authors. Click Local History for details on these collections.

Foreign Language Resources

Italian: The Library maintains a collection of Italian books, and subscriptions to the Italian language magazines Oggi and Panorama. The Italian language collection and Italian magazines are located in the Periodicals area.

Deposit collections: The Library maintains deposit collections of books in Chinese, French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Deposit collections are borrowed from the Boston Public Library for a period of three months. If you would like the library to provide books in a language other than those listed, please fill out a form at the Information Desk and we will request a deposit.

Language Tapes and Videos: The Audio-Visual collection includes language learning cassettes and video tapes for foreign language and for those learning English as a second language. Language tapes are located with the Books on Tape near the High St. entrance. Language videos are located with the Learning videos.

Literacy
The Library maintains a collection of books and other materials for adult new learners, students of English as a Second Language, and literacy tutors. The book collection, located in the Periodical area, includes tutor and student guides, grammars, dictionaries, writing guides and a wide variety of readers. A selection of audio tapes for ESL learners are also available in the Books on Tape area next to the High St. entrance. Videos for ESL students can be found with the “Learning” videos.

Literacy tutors, conversation classes, and other resources are available locally through the Eastern Massachusetts Literacy Council, which is located in West Medford.
